Reading the Megillah this year was fun as the atmosphere was filled with the roaring sound of groggers and excitement as Howard read. When we finished we walked down what once was a hall into our social hall, but it had been transformed and was filled with bright colors and balloons, inviting us all into a carnival full of fun for the whole family. There was a costume contest for everyone of all ages. We also had lots of games and prizes! It was so much fun that people didn't want to leave.

Milena Gerstien and Jonathan Berman! We have had so much fun with you guys! Your Beth Messiah Youth Friends I'm Max, and I am a competitive figure skater. I competed nationally at several competitions throughout 2016 and 2017, at the Intermediate Level for Ice Dancing. I couldn't have done that without my partner and best friend Anna Nicklas. We teamed up last February, at the advice of our coaches, Yasa and Yuri.
I have been skating for 6 years, and have been Ice Dancing for 3. Ice dance is different than normal figure skating because there are no jumps, and there are intricate partner lifts performed. I train skating as a full time job, between on and off the ice I put in 40+ hours per week. I am at the rink from 7:30 to 5:00, 5 days a week, work out 3 days a week, and train ballet, as well as lengthy stretch sessions for flexibility. I am a Sophomore in high school, and am home schooled so I can pursue skating to it's fullest, and compete at a higher level. Beth Messiah was and still is a very large part of my life even though I do not currently attend. I worshiped there for several years, and love the community and everyone there. A few of my hobbies include Video Games Reading Rock Climbing Hope this gives you a general idea of what I do, and what my journey in life has been like so far! Best Regards, -Max |
