A lot of non-believers ask "Well if God can change people and they read the Bible then how come I don't see any change?"
Some people profess to be Christian but don't actually move forward in their faith and a lot of Jews are Jewish but don't get involved or have a relationship with God. Not everyone is like this but even though people say they believe in God doesn't mean they follow and worship him.
We may have grown up believing in God because we always have but that doesn't mean we don't truly accept him. Sometimes we forget that if have come to know the Lord, we are now in the process of sanctification. (Becoming more like him) We either don't want to change or are forgetting that God is in control.
When we accept Yeshua and choose to believe in God, it does not mean we automatically become perfect. There is still sin in the world. We may notice we are sinning and turn away from it but we still aren't perfect and that's why Yeshua came.
God does transform us. But it involves our cooperation. We must be willing to change with God, through his Word, and allow others to be involves in the process and we can change. Also, suffering and circumstances can be used to change us as well. The question is “How do we respond to God in this specific circumstance?” Will we turn away from him or allow him to help us?
We should ask ourselves "What is stopping me from changing?" He has given us His Spirit, the Word, community, plenty of resources (lectures, books, online resources), to help us. We are just being stubborn.
